“So I heard you’re giving out secret gifts,” Leah said with a less-than-pleased look. “Neat.”
She knows she’s being petty. The two of you aren’t official, but what ‘friends’ talk damn near constantly and have frequent picnics? And the fact her latest piece was sort of, maybe, kind of dedicated to you? Yeah, she was a little peeved you got Haley flowers. Sue her. She’s jealous. A little.
“I’m not jealous!” She set down her chisel a little too quickly. “I'm just. Flowers? Really?”
She did not turn to look at you, instead taking the opportunity to glare at the wooden piece she’d been working on for a while, now. Her fingers twitched in search of something to do. She’d gone and made it all awkward with her dumb feelings. Haley wasn’t the type to swoop in for someone in an almost-relationship (she’s really not that bad), and she hadn’t shown any interest in the farmer.
“Whatever. It’s fine,” she muttered quietly.
