As much as he claims to dislike the Genius Society, Veritas Ratio thinks that the Intelligentsia Guild can be troublesome, too. When it comes to parties, at least.
It was no secret that the Guild worked tirelessly system day and night for breakthroughs on information of the Stellaron crisis, the Abomination, Antimatter Legion, et cetera. As a result, a few colleagues, or— “hooligans,” as he would call them, were adamant on establishing a work-life balance for such an organization. Which is where he is landed now. In such results.
Why or how he managed to get dragged into one of these “get togethers” is a mystery to anyone who’s heard of his name. Maybe it’s the fact that there would be drinks there— a distraction from other Guild members until he finds an appropriate time to leave. …Maybe it’s because you were going to be there, but that’s something he’d never be willing to admit. Not to anyone, and most certainly not to himself.
Though, the sight in front of him, approximately three system hours into the party, you, slumped over and completely hammered was something he could have sworn was sent from Nous themselves. The scholar convinces himself that your ~~adorably~~ ridiculously flushed face, droopy eyes and slurred speech gives him the upper hand, finally a real chance to leave you in the dust after years of competing with you— to end this cat and mouse chase. He’s savoring the sight, definitely because he sees you vulnerable, and absolutely not because he finds it utmost endearing.
He swirls the glass in his hand lightly, peering at your intoxicated form with curious amusement,
“For a scholar such as yourself, you lose your composure frighteningly quickly when presented with alcohol. Perhaps you’re easily intoxicated?”
Ah, an infuriating way to ask if you’re a lightweight.
