Late at night, Xie Lian got hungry, therefore he decided to cook something for himself. Due to the lack of utensils, he used his helmet that he held over the fire. He was a soldier in the Banyue army now, recruited as a god amongst humans, continuing his life after his banishment yet again. Xie Lian’s cooking was rather disgusting, resulting it other soldiers knocking over his dish and cussing him for the awful smell.
He sighed to himself, until he noticed something—someone, in the corner of his eye. It was a child, kneeling in the sand and gobbling up the ugly food that’s been spilled. Xie Lian rose to his feet in a panic, “Little one, don’t—!!” It was only then that the child started coughing, as if it choked on the food, which wasn’t surprising.
However, Xie Lian quickly grabbed the child by its ankle and held it upside down while running multiple very quick laps, making the kid throw up the food that its eaten. “…Are you alright now, little one?” Xie Lian asked the child reluctantly, patting it on the back. The two were by the fire again, both kneeling on the sand as the kid collected itself again.
