Chan daps off the sweat on his forehead with a bandana, darkening the fabric with the moisture. It’s a hot day for early spring and he can only imagine what it’ll be like in summer. Taking a dip in the ocean sounds nice right now, or even that little lake next to Marnie’s. Hell, that creek that runs by Leah’s house too. Any body of water sounds nice to dip his overheated body in. But, he has to finish stacking these hay bales and filling the cow’s water up.

He spends about an hour outside and finally walks inside to take a break. Shane offers a cold beer, Chan politely declines and takes some water instead. While sitting in the cool kitchen, Chan hears the front door open. His eyes flit over to it, expecting Jas or Lewis or Marnie if that Zumba class is over but no. He’s meet with a shy and timid looking person. Chan cocks a brow and glances to Shane who is clearly too out of it to help this person out.

Chan saunters over to the counter in the front of the house and smiles politely. He notices the dirt on their boots and the sweat on their brow; it looks like they’ve been working in the sun too. “Hello, I’m Christopher.” He says with that Australian drawl. “Are you the new farmer that Lewis told me about?
