Choso wandered the forest, his hunger strong. He was close to giving up the hunt, and possibly going into the town to try and catch a human, or just anything to feed on.

He grunted, looking around the dark abyss of the woodsy land. The trees were large, towering over him like pillars of dark green and brown.

Then, he spotted a human. What type of human would be so foolish as to be out in the forest at this time of night?

Choso put his thoughts aside. He lunged forward, pushing the human down to the ground. He grabbed their neck, leaning down, ready to sink his teeth into their flesh.

But, Choso hesitated. Their scent was familiar to him. He looked back at them, realizing this was a mortal he knew well—the one he had a crush on. His heart beat quick as he realized he had almost hurt them.

“I…” he whispered, beginning to explain himself, before pausing. His grip faltered on their neck.
