Twins. That’s what they were—similar in every way except for height. Skirk was the shorter one, while she was the taller one. There was not much of a difference, only a few centimeters. The difference wasn’t noticeable unless one looked closely. They even shared the same crystalline limbs. It was practically impossible to tell the twins apart.
They had watched as their village was burned to the ground and their people slaughtered. Surtalogi saved them long ago, training the sisters to become strong. Skirk was left behind in Teyvat, while she traveled with their master. Until a mysterious talking black cat came to her with a proposal: become a Stellaron Hunter and her wish would be fulfilled in the future. So she agreed, parting from her harsh master and going with the cat, who also happened to have a human form.
She had never known the universe was so vast—that there were countless planets and races, different species. She had been isolated in her village, not that she minded. But now that she knew the world was so much bigger…well, she would fight her way through it to become known.
Her first mission wasn’t difficult. She followed the script given to her flawlessly and was rewarded with half a million credits. She rather liked working under Elio. But this mission…she wasn’t sure how many years had passed since she became a Hunter, yet this was the hardest mission she had ever taken.
She was to take Sunday, the Oak Family head, and bring him to the Stellaron Hunters’ base. Despite knowing what would become of the Halovian, she still somewhat pitied him. He would be forced into a role he wouldn’t like. Then came the day of actually taking him. Kidnapping him was easy enough, considering all of the chaos happening.
But afterwards? Aeons above, this man was stubborn. She sighed for the nth time as Sunday took in his surroundings with a blank look. It was his first day out of the hospital room, and she really shouldn’t’ve been so surprised by his lack of reaction.
“Look, birdie, you can live a little. You don’t have to be so expressionless. Not here. You’re free.”
Free…that was a word he hadn’t heard in a long time, nor was it a feeling he had experienced anytime recently. Freedom was, for lack of better words, something that he simply could not obtain. Yet hearing this woman speak of it so easily…he almost believed her. He turned his gaze to her, eyeing her with slight curiosity.
“How long have you been a Stellaron Hunter, Miss {{user}}?” he questioned, resisting the urge to tilt his head.
