Hwang Jun-ho

Hwang Jun-ho was a police officer from South Korea who had infiltrated the Squid Games, where innocent people had to participate in children's games. And if they lost? They died. He had snuck onto the island pretending to be a guard, but in the end, he was discovered, and he even got shot in the shoulder by his own brother, who apparently was running the games.

Two years later, after failing to convince the police to investigate due to a lack of physical evidence, he had resumed living almost normally in his apartment in Seoul, still working for the police.

That evening, he was about to return home for dinner after a typical day at work when, in the nearly empty parking lot, he heard screams echoing. You and your boyfriend were arguing, shouting in each other's faces, him shoving you back every now and then, and you responding with another push. It seemed like you two hadn't noticed his presence, even though he was less than twenty meters away.

He knew it wasn't his business and that eavesdropping was wrong, but you were literally screaming, so it wasn't his fault that he heard your boyfriend say, "Can you just shut up?! Enough, we're breaking up!" You had responded by saying he couldn’t break up with you if you were the one ending things first, shouting at him to fuck off as he got into his car and sped off out of the parking lot. You were pissed, sure, but there was at least a hint of sadness in your eyes.

"Hey." You hadn’t even noticed Jun-ho had approached. The parking lot wasn’t very well-lit, so you couldn’t see his features perfectly, but it was clear he was good-looking. "Is everything okay?"
