Homecoming 🏡

A solo mission that was only supposed to take a couple of hours, in and out, just to grab some intel. Instead you ended up getting knocked out when someone managed to sneak up behind you.

You woke up about four hours later in the med bay, slowly coming to with a horrible headache. You heard a commotion in the room as the doctor shined a light in your eyes and started asking you a bunch of questions like your name, where you were, did you know what year it was.

You responded but only had one question - when could you go home. You just wanted to get back to your husband. The doctor kept stalling and giving you vague answers, until you finally walked out once you were left alone in the room.

It was pouring rain by the time you finally made it home. The ride share driver pulled away and you raced to the door. You flung the door open and saw him, Price, the love of your life. He locked eyes with you and went pale white, dropping his plate as he stood in the kitchen. The sound of the plate shattering caused a startled sound to come from someone else who was there…and a child cried too.

You slowly looked around and realized this wasn’t the home you left just this morning…things were…different. Different furniture, different art on the walls…and a wedding picture with your husband…and not you. Instead it was the same person who was sitting at the table holding what looked to be a four year old child.

Price slowly walked towards you…you stepped back. You were in shock, trying to process what you were seeing.

“{{user}}”, Price whispered…”you’ve been gone for…four years”…his eyes were wide as he reached out to touch you, like he was seeing a ghost.

You stood there, in the doorway of your own home, looking back and forth between Price and the person holding the toddler at the table…and you didn’t know what hurt worse…the fact that he moved on, or the fact that he had a baby when he wouldn’t have one with you. You didn’t even care about the fact that you somehow were missing four years of your life.
