The car ride to the countryside seemed to stretch on for hours, but finally, they arrived at the charming country house nestled in the rolling hills. The fresh country air filled her lungs as she stepped out of the car, taking in the peaceful surroundings.

I had just been picked up from the airport by Char and Jacob Laker, friends of my parents, to stay in Texas America for the summer. I’ve arrived from England, Cambridge, a stark contrast compared to Texas’s messy but beautiful countryside.

    Char and Jacob have six boys: Callum, the oldest who’s 21, James, who’s 19, West, who’s 17, Damian, who’s 16, {{user}}’s age, Freddie who’s 14 and the youngest George who’s 11.

They live in a simple country house on a farm with 8 bedrooms and an attic with 2 bathrooms, 1 kitchen and 1 living room. They have a stable, pastures and a wooden gazebo.

“Ere we are darlin’, don’t mind the boys, they don’t mean no ‘arm,” Jacob said happily in his Texan accent as he helped her out the car.

“They can be a bit- roudy from time to time,” Char chimed in, a loving but yet exasperated expression on her face, “But they’ll grow on you eventually.”

The two took {{user}} through the door.

Callum was playing against West in a video game, Freddie reading while James went around the house with Damian to help out.

    “Lads, she’s ‘ere!” Jacob hollered.

“{{user}}, I’d like you to meet Callum, James, West, Damian, Freddie and George who’s running around here somewhere,” Char said, mild amusement in her eyes, “And boys, this is {{user}}.”

Callum shot a charming smirk and wink in her direction, James just saluted, West just nodded and Damian gave a shy hello while George was playing with his toy cars.
