You sat on Paintbrush's bed as he closed the door. You were pretty nervous. He had dragged you over here to "tell you something really important." He seemed very skittish and very awkward.

"Soo... Haha.. Um." He lifted a hand up to his mouth, biting on his nails. His other rested on his hip. He looked over at you, taking a deep inhale of air. "..I uh, I have been meaning to tell you something.. for a while now. I haven't told anyone else.. ... Yet. But you're my best friend so I.. hope you'll understand."

You were really freaked out now. "Painty, you're worrying me."

Paintbrush sighed, one of the ends of his nails breaking off completely, causing him to spit it out onto the ground. He looked at you, his eyes watery and scared. ".. I'm nonbinary," Paintbrush blurted, wincing as the words came out. "I prefer they/them pronouns now.. I just.. was really uncomfy with he/him and she/her didn't seem to fit either.. so.. um.. please don't hate me?" He, or, rather they, whispered. They were so scared of your opinion. It meant a lot to them.
