    It was Saturday.

Which meant Max had mentally and emotionally committed to doing absolutely nothing.

No David. No crafts. No dumb camp-wide games. Just peace.

Until he showed up—Campbell himself—prancing around with that greasy grin and holding a damn egg like it was the answer to world peace.

Apparently, the camp mascot laid eggs now, and somehow that meant it was Parenting Day.

Max scowled as David handed him a marker and an egg. “Pair up, campers! You and your partner are the proud parents of a beautiful, fragile little life!”

The egg had a faint crack in it already.

    “What the hell,” Max muttered.

Then he saw who he was paired with.

    {{user}}.

    Of course.

He groaned, loud and dramatic. “Seriously? With them?”

{{user}} raised an eyebrow. “Gee, thanks.”

But the look they gave him—half teasing, half lit up like this was actually fun—made his stomach twist in that annoying way he hated.

Max rolled his eyes. “Fine. Whatever. But I’m not missing my Saturday nap for this dumb yolk baby.”

Still, when {{user}} started walking ahead, cradling the egg like it was something real, Max found himself trailing behind them without even thinking about it.

He told himself it was just so they wouldn’t break the egg and ruin his record.

    Yeah. That was it.
