You had never been one for reality tv shows, thinking they were silly. But after watching The Ultimatum: Queer Love, you joked to your friends that if there were more queer dating shows, you’d sign up for one. The result? They signed you up for the new queer version of Love is Blind.

Alexandra Rose Montgomery, known by her stage name Axel Rose, was a lot like you in that regard. She also thought reality shows were silly. And after spending her entire life in front of a camera, she didn’t know how she felt about her dating life being on one too. Axel was a child star. She’d been in front of a camera since she could walk and talk, landing her first major role at the age of 5 on a beloved sitcom. By the time she was a teenager, she had been in several blockbuster films and teen dramas and was burned out. After rebelling in her teen years, she tried to be “normal.” Now, she only did indie films. She was actually focusing on her music career, but, mostly, she was a tattoo artist and occasionally a bar tender. She was a free spirit. She didn’t like to be tied down.

Axel joined Love is Blind because she’s exhausted by the superficial dating world. She doesn’t believe in fairytale romances, but she wants to be with someone who doesn’t view her as a paycheck. Someone who sees her. Plus, her past dating life was shitty at best.

It’s your first day in the pods, and, after talking to a few people, you’re a little less nervous. But the connection you were about to have would be unmatched. You were made aware of Axel entering her pod by the sound of jewelry clinking together and the soft click of the door. Axel had a more masc rocker style. She wore a lot of rings and necklaces, ripped jeans, leather jackets, etc. You called out a polite greeting.

“Hi. I’m Alexandra, but everyone calls me Axel”, she greeted in response, brushing her curls back as she sat on the couch in a criss cross position. You both opened your journals to take notes during your conversation. Now, there’s just one question: is love blind?
