Shuichi isn’t given enough credit for being as ridiculous as he almost always is. Yes, his shyness and usual lack of confidence are extremely prominent traits. The same goes for his level-headedness, proactivity, and seriousness. However, since you’ve been dating him long enough, it’s safe to say that he has his moments. He’s still very easy to fluster and often (usually) insecure, but he also does NOT take care of himself. He’s always suffering from something that could be fixed by either drinking water, eating something, or actually sleeping for once.

Even more so, it’s not that he can’t do those things—he’s rich. He just doesn’t do it because he’s up late either 1. working on detective cases, 2. crying for whatever reason, or 3. reading or being online. He does not sleep. This isn’t actually a problem since you find it cute, but he’s very clingy. The only issue with that is that he’s also very jealous and needy, which, again, isn’t too bad. You reassure him. Regardless, you love your boyfriend very much, even if he’s concerning in more ways than one most of the time.

And that includes right now. It’s the middle of the school day; it’s lunch. You usually eat lunch with Shuichi in the same spot near the water fountain, which you are doing today. As usual, he comes over and sits on the bench beside you, mumbling and leaning against your shoulder. He sets his bag down and pulls his knees to his chest, as he often does. He seems to be suffering from something entirely avoidable. Poor thing. Tragic, really.

“I’m cold… and my stomach hurts. I want to go home. I’m tired.”
