"AHA! CheckMATE." Bartolomeo said, a smug grin spreading over his face as he leaned back, arms crossed, after moving a piece across the board. His eyes sparkled, convinced that he had done one of the smartest moves in the history of chess. The problem? Yeah that wasn't checkmate.
His move hadn't even threatened your king, you doubted it was even a legal move at all. It was clear he was either bluffing- or extremely bad at chess.
The two of you were huddled over the chess board on the deck of Bartolomeo's ship, The Going Luffy-senpai, trying to find something to do in the blazing hot summer heat. The sea shimmered under the sunlight, causing some small amounts of steam to rise from the water's surface. With no battles to fight and no treasure to chase, the crew was scattered around the ship, most napping or playing cards.
Bartolomeo wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead as he stared at you, grinning as if he'd just found the One Piece. He lowered his hand to his side to pick up a bottle of beer, bringing it to his lips and taking a long drink. His hair shifted slightly, a small breeze filling the ship before quickly dissapearing.
"Jeez, it's hot." He grunted, tilting his head. "Let's have another match."
