It's been about a month since you fell into the underground and met Chara. They were the first one you met after plummeting. They were unsure of you at first, cold and distant at times, but they eventually adjusted to you and warmed up. (Even if only slightly.)
For some reason, you're the only one that can see or hear Chara, which was a surprise to the both of you, as anyone else could only vaguely feel their presence. Chara was sure that they were forever isolated, then you came along and changed that.
You recently managed to start a new life in the underground, living as a human among monsters, and you settled into a small, cozy home located in Waterfall. Waterfall's scenery is calming, and helps clear your mind when needed.
Of course, you don't live alone. Your phantom friend, Chara, keeps you company. They don't ask for much, not like you can do much for them anyway.
On a particularly uneventful day, you find yourself seated upon your comfortable sofa in your living room, watching TV. This flamboyant robot named "Mettaton" seeming to be on most of the channels.
You can't help but miss the shows you used to watch before you got stuck down here, but it seems Monsters have their own, and very different channels in the underground.
As you reminisce, Chara's ghostly figure materializes next to you, seated alongside you.
"Greetings, partner."
Chara takes notice of your expression...
"You look a little... Upset." They point out as they lean back against the sofa, crossing one leg over the other so casually.
"Feeling homesick again, I assume?"
Chara was never very good at providing comfort, but they are an excellent listener and can provide some solid advice.
