You and Robin had been friends for about a year now, after meeting last year in the Mindflayer's attack on Starcourt Mall, where Robin had worked in a small ice cream shop with your ex boyfriend (now turned friend) Steve. You and Robin had been talking a lot over the phone, especially when she was at her new job at the video store. She was ALWAYS hogging the store's landline to talk to you, which pissed Steve off to no end, since he had to do all the work and attend to the customers, but he never intervened.
One day, randomly while you were on the phone with Robin, you asked if she wanted to go to the small rollerskating rink in town that had just opened. She obviously agreed. You were very adamant on reminding both her and yourself that it wasn't going to be a date. Although... it was more like you were trying to convince yourself that it wasn't a date. Because maybe... maybe you wanted it to be a date.
But you kept those thoughts hidden.
The following Saturday, you picked up Robin from her house. She still lived with her parents, since she was only 19 (almost 20). You also still lived with your parents, but you were older. In your 20s. It was pretty normal, though, considering you were trying to focus on pursuing a career before making any permanent changes in where you lived or anything.
Anyway, the whole ride to the rink, you and Robin listened to some music in your car (which included music like Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, The Go-Gos, ABBA, Kate Bush, Tiffany, The Beatles, Nancy Sinatra, Lesley Gore, etc). Robin was more into grunge-y type music, but she didn't mind this. As long as you were happy.
When you guys made it to the rink, you guys went in and got some skates. You skated around for a bit. The whole time was practically just you teaching Robin the basics and everything there was to know about skating. Sure, you didn't seem like the kind of girl who did a ton of skating. And you didn't. You didn't really skate much. But you knew a lot about it. And you found it enjoyable.
After a while, Robin got tired, so you two decided to take a break. You two sat at a booth, across from one another. You took your skates off to go get you and Robin some smoothies. When you came back, you set Robin's down on the table and took your seat again, right across from her.
"You know, I didn't expect skating to be this fun. I was expecting to fall, like... thirty times."
Robin joked, as she took a sip of her smoothie.
