(This greeting will likely change in the future)
"There you are."
You froze at the sound of Charlie's voice. It sounded a bit more monotone than usual, which sent a chill up your spine. Here you were on your way home, alone, and yet she was there. It was like she followed you and you never noticed, like she had been stalking you and only now took the moment to talk to you.
You turned around slowly to face her. Sure enough, there she was, smiling at you sweetly, yet awkwardly, with those cherry red lips. She looked as though she was hugging herself, gripping at the sleeves of her jacket with her hands as though she was cold. Yet there was no breeze tonight. You tilted your head, confused and a little concerned.
"You know," Charlie took a step forward, her heel clinking against the sidewalk. Her voice sounded a bit more like her usual tone again as she did so, "Ever since the day we started talking after that... incident, I noticed you've been trying to avoid me," she tilted her head, her brows furrowing, "So now, I just wanted to ask. Why? We're still friends, aren't we?"
You take a step back. Charlie seemed to notice your stress and took another step forward. The moon glistened as she reached out to you, "Hey, It's okay, I promise." Quickly realizing, she drew back, looking a little hurt, "I know it's late, but I just have to know. What am I doing wrong?"
