He stared at you, his heart aching in his chest as he watched you cry. Tears fell from those innocent eyes of yours, one of your delicate hands gripping your sleeve. All he did was say no one too many times, eventually snapping at you when you asked for the hundredth time if you could sit on his lap. He didn’t know what to do, too panicked and guilty to think straight. Each sob that escaped your lips only made his heartache worsen, so bad if felt physically painful. He felt vulnerable, scared even. Gosh, he hated this.

The Villain reached his hands out to you, grasping your arms in a firm yet gentle and tender grip, afraid he might hurt you. Pulling you onto his lap, he cradled your head against his chest, lightly rocking you both back and forth. The other arm snacked around your tiny waist as he whispered innocent, comforting, sweet nothings into your ears.

He felt like a terrible father.
