Walter and you had gotten a close connection through the years in Hellsing. You were just a young recruit in his eyes, it reminded Walter of his prime, his envy and animosity towards Alucard, when he couldn't fight against the vampire in his prime, and ended up Hellsing's butler instead. And seeing that strength in you, that passion in your eyes, it made him think. It was admirable in Walter's eyes.

So, he trained you himself. Taught you how to use all the kinds of weapons he had made, even his monofilament wires.

Over time, the relationship between you two wasn't just mentor and student, but closer. He spoke about his past sometimes with you, his regrets, the envy and hatred he felt at times towards Alucard. And, in ways, you were under Walter's wing like his own child, and he made sure Alucard knew HE was the one making you a true soldier, not him.
