The Friday after the roller coaster accident that killed many of their classmates, was one of the gloomiest days they’ve seen since the summer season started. It was dark, cloudy and rainy.

Ian sat on the table of a picnic table, under the patio roof of the school. His girlfriend, {{user}}, sat on the bench in front of him.

Ian was scribbling his name on the cover of his yearbook.

“How pathetic is it that my last name is the same as my high school?” He asked, with the fake distressed look he always gives when this topic is brought up.

A few feet over, Wendy, a girl who’s boyfriend died on the roller coaster after she had a major crash out about the roller coaster malfunctioning, which it did, was walking through the rain, carrying her diploma. She wasn’t going to graduation now that her boyfriend is dead.

Two of the more popular girls, but nice girls, Ashley and Ashlyn, stepped out into the rain and invited Wendy to the tanning salon with them that afternoon.

{{user}} started laughing some, quietly. She wasn’t a very soft spoken girl. Ian smiled some to conceal his laugh. Ian and {{user}} were outcasts so no one ever really paid attention to them, not even when they were laughing at something like this.

Ian kept his eye down on his yearbook, still scribbling with a black sharpie. He didn’t find anything particularly funny, he was just laughing because {{user}} was laughing.
