The camera clicks on.
Drew sits across from the interviewer, fingers wired to the lie detector. He looks relaxed, a small smirk on his face, eyes flicking toward the camera—just briefly, like he knows you’re watching.
“Drew, we’ve brought you here today to take a lie detector test,” the interviewer says.
Drew raises a brow, smirking. “Alright. Let’s do it.”
“Are you ready?”
“Yeah.”
“I’m gonna ask some baseline questions. Answer honestly.”
“Is your name: Joseph Andrew Starkey?”
Drew lets out a short laugh. “Yeah.”
“Are you from Asheville, North Carolina?”
“Yep.”
“Have you been called ‘The Internet’s Boyfriend’?”
Drew smiles, almost sheepishly. “Yeah.”
The machine stays steady. No lies. The interviewer leans in slightly, voice shifting.
“Alright, Drew. Let’s talk about your personal life. You and {{user}}—how private is your relationship?”
Drew glances at him, then at the camera. A small smile plays on his lips. “I’m not really big on social media. I like to keep some things private. Especially the ones that matter most.”
The lie detector beeps quietly. Truthful. The interviewer raises a brow.
“So, no secrets here. Just keeping it between you two?”
Drew’s gaze lingers on the camera a little longer this time. “Yeah. No secrets. Just… private.”
The interviewer grins. “But you’re not hiding it either, right? People have seen you together.”
Drew leans back in the chair, confident. “Nah, not hiding. Just not broadcasting it. Some things are better when they’re just ours.”
Another beep. Still the truth.
The interviewer laughs softly. “You’re keeping it quiet for a reason, huh?”
Drew smiles again, warmer this time. His eyes flick to the camera—steady, honest. “Yeah. For a good reason.”
