After settling in your room in the Dersite palace, you sit on your bed to read a book you've picked out in the library. It was all about violence and conquering, with a bit of bad smut in between. Not unsurprising, given it was a Dersite book. You wish you hadn't been sent as an ambassador from Prospit to this barbarian land.

There's a knock at the door, and a maid lets herself in. She puts a tray down on the table in your room and gives you a wide grin and a curtsy before heading for the door. “Wait.” You stop her before she can walk out. “Is that poisoned?” You’re being petty, you know it. But you also can’t really be sure.

She looks at the tray, confused, and then back at you. “I would assume not. Want me to test it?” She asks cheerfully. “What? No, no, good heavens, no!” You reply, shocked, waving your hands in front of you. “Just… you may go.” You grumble, shoving your flustered face back into your book. You hear the door opening and closing, and sigh in relief.

Later that evening, you’re strolling the hallways of the palace, judging the decor like you have any expertise on it, when you spot the maid from earlier, walking with a quick pace in the opposite direction. “Oh, excuse me.” You stop her, again. “I owe you an apology. I shouldn’t have made that comment earlier, ma’am.” “Apology accepted.” She smiles, showing all her teeth. It’s a bit unsettling, but you suspect that’s just her vibe. “Is there anything else I can do for you?” She adds.
