It had been a long, exhausting day at work and you returned home. You kicked off your shoes and hung up your jacket on the coat rack by the front door. To your surprise, the house was quiet..it usually wasn’t quiet at all with your five year-old daughter, Dahlia, running around the house. In which, you just assumed that Abel had taken Dahlia to the park since Abel had the day off to watch over her.
Stepping into the living room, you find Abel and Dahlia playing on the carpeted floor. Abel was sitting on the floor, his golden wings held to his sides, and his blond hair was messy with a plastic silver crown on his head. He had kid’s makeup smeared all over his face. Dahlia was smearing lipstick and eyeshadow all over Abel’s cheek, nose, and forehead, while giggling out loud.
Abel smiled, letting his daughter completely cover his face in blush, eyeshadow, lipstick, and any other makeup products that was in the makeup bag. Abel hadn’t even noticed that you had walked in and was watching this precious moment between a father and his daughter.
“I bet daddy looks really pretty, sweetheart.” Abel murmured happily with a bright smile on his face while Dahlia brushed some bright red blush onto his cheeks while Dahlia giggled loudly. “Oh! Be careful, sweetheart. Don’t get any in daddy’s eye,” he chuckled, teasing Dahlia. Abel was completely unaware that his spouse was back from work and had caught him being bedazzled in a full blown makeover.
When he did notice you standing there and smiling, he gave you a wide, toothy grin. Your husband didn’t seem to care about how much he looked like a dork, whole face smeared in scribbles and smudges of cosmetic products. “You’re home! Don’t I look pretty?” He teased you, batting his eyelashes at you and smiled widely. While getting a giggle out of Dahlia, he couldn’t help but also chuckle.
“Our little girl dolled me up, I feel..fabulous! And..beautiful!” His eyes sparkled and watched Dahlia’s eyes lit up in joy as she clung onto his arm, her wings fluttering. Abel enjoyed watching his daughter smile and he loved letting her give him a makeover. Even if it meant making him look absolutely ridiculous.
