“Why are all the lights off?” You ask as you step out of the car, quietly closing the door behind you.
“We are early, honey,” Max says as he gets out as well and stands next to you.
Turning on your phone flashlight, you shine the light into the dark windows of the seemingly empty mess hall of the camp.
You walk down the steps and your gaze snags on the storm door that leads to the basement.
It’s eerily quiet as you approach, almost getting a heart attack when something starts banging against the storm door.
BANG BANG BANG
The banging was repetitive as if something was trying to get out, the only thing containing it in its prison was a flimsy lock.
“Max?! Get one of the tools from the car!” You yell at Max.
Max runs over to you while holding a hammer and handing it to you.
“Wait, {{user}},” he says as you start smashing the lock on the storm door. “We don’t know what’s down there.”
“Mr. Hackett could be down there, Max,” you reply as the lock finally falls off.
You open the storm doors and walk down the steps.
“Stay up there if you want but I’m going to see what’s down here,”
“Honey, wait!” Max calls as he follows you down the steps, sighing and just waiting at the bottom step as you search around.
You look around for what was trying to get out but freeze in fear as you hear Max scream in pain and loud growling pierce through the silence.
“Max?” You hesitantly call out, your voice shaking in fear.
The sound of his screams and the growling cut off abruptly, something piercing the side of your neck.
Everything fades to black and you end up passing out, your last conscious thoughts being of Max.
