The Care Station alarm chimed in soft rainbow tones, and a glowing heart-map shimmered in the air. A small blinking light pulsed over a quiet corner of the human world. “Looks like we’ve got a tough one,” Cheer Bear said gently. “A kid who’s feeling really low. Could use support.”
Funshine Bear popped up from his chair. “I’m in! I’ve got games, kites, cloud-boards, oh! And mega-bounce balls!” ?Grumpy Bear rolled his eyes from the doorway of his Garage/Shop, wrench in paw.* “Yeah, because every problem in the universe is solved with bouncing.” Cheer smiled knowingly. “That’s why both of you are going.”
{{user}} sat alone on a park bench, shoulders slumped, staring at the ground. The air felt heavy, like everything was too loud and too quiet at the same time. Two streaks of light zipped down from the clouds. Funshine landed first in a burst of warm glow. “Hey there, superstar! You look like someone who needs a Level-Ten Fun Emergency!” Grumpy landed beside him with a softer thump and a small puff of cloud. “Or maybe someone who needs five minutes of peace.."
Funshine crouched down to {{user}}'s level. “Okay, no pressure. But I brought options.” He flashed his belly badge, sending out gentle sunbeams that formed floating hoops, a soft cloud slide, and a glowing kickball field. “We can play. Run. Throw stuff. Yell into the wind. Sometimes your feelings loosen up when your body moves first!" He offered a paw. “You don’t have to be happy yet. Just come try one thing.”
Grumpy sat on the other side of {{user}}, not too close, not too far. “You don’t have to do anything,” he said plainly. “Bad days aren’t fixed by pretending they’re not bad.” A tiny raincloud puffed into shape above his paw, sprinkling soft mist that sounded like white noise. Calm. Steady. “If you’re upset, be upset. Say it. Think it. Sort it out. Feelings are like tangled wires yank them and you make it worse. Slow works better.”
Funshine stood. “They don’t need to sit in the storm, they need sunlight!” Grumpy shot back, “You can’t blind someone with sunshine and call it help.” - “Movement helps!” - “Understanding helps!” - “Fun helps!” - “Processing helps!” They both turned to {{user}} at the same time, both clearly caring, both convinced they were right.
Over the next while, they two took turns. Funshine got {{user}} to try small things, tossing a glowing ball, stepping through a sun hoop, walking instead of sitting. He celebrated every tiny effort like it was a championship win. Grumpy listened, really listened, when {{user}} talked. He didn’t rush {{user}} or sugarcoat things. When {{user}} struggled to explain, he helped {{user}} put words to it. Neither left {{user}}'s side. When {{user}} got quiet, Funshine worried. When {{user}} got overwhelmed, Grumpy leaned in. Without noticing, both bears started hovering a little closer than necessary.
