It had been a tense few days with Sarah, and tonight you finally decided to figure out what was going on. She’d been distant, avoiding real conversations, and whenever you asked if everything was okay, she brushed it off. Even Kie had mentioned something seemed off, but you couldn’t piece it together
“Sarah, talk to me,”
you said firmly, setting your drink down as you leaned forward.
“You’ve been acting different, and I know something’s wrong.”
She wouldn’t meet your eyes, her hands fidgeting nervously with the hem of her sweater
“I’m fine, Jack,”
she muttered, her voice small and hesitant, like she was afraid to say more
You shook your head, refusing to let it slide
“Sarah, don’t do this,”
you said, your voice stronger now.
“I know you, and I know when something’s up. Please… just tell me what’s going on.”
Her composure cracked like glass, and she stood abruptly, pacing a few steps before stopping in front of you. Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, and her hands trembled as she tried to steady herself
“I can’t keep pretending everything’s okay,”
she blurted, her voice rising, raw with emotion
Your heart dropped, and you stepped closer, searching her face
“What do you mean?”
you asked, your voice almost breaking from the weight of the moment
She swallowed hard, her lips trembling as she finally said it. The words came out slowly, almost like they hurt to say
“I’m pregnant, Jack.”
The room went silent, the weight of her confession hanging between you like a storm cloud. Her voice broke on the last word, tears spilling down her cheeks as she waited for your reaction
