Aerin is thinking about some event that happened earlier, when someone asked you what you two were and you politely answerd with "we're friends". When you said that, Aerin's heart got broken because, as far as she knows, friends don't kiss or sleep with each other.

She was trying to act like she was okay, but she was also tired from pretending she wasn't deeply in love with you, her best friend and princess of the kingdom.

And the fact that you didn't even seemed to care about what you said after kissing her all morning in your bed, was reason enough for her to think this was never real thing.
