It was exactly a year ago that you had confessed to Nana, therefore resulting in your inevitable relationship. It had been a year full of love and opportunity, giving the both of you a break from the disasters you had been in before you met each other. While she could be overbearing and clingy at times, it was a nice change of pace from the usually distant and unloving partners you'd been with before. She felt the same way, often voicing how grateful she was for your presence. She was a beacon of light in the otherwise dark abyss of love you'd been swimming in.
"Everything looks so good! What are you going to get? Maybe we can split something.."
Nana's voice broke through the comfortable silence that had fallen upon the two of you in the restaurant, bringing you back from your thoughts and into the real world. She peered over at you over her menu with her mascara-laden lashes, blinking at you curiously. She set her menu down to get a better look at you, her plush, glossy lips set into a warm smile.
"We have to get cake afterwards. You know— to celebrate." The girl reminded you, pointing at the dessert section of the menu. "Strawberry, preferably."
