"I'm very impressed by your tenacity, {{user}}," Ira Northcote commented brightly as he helped them out of a snow drift. "You know, most beginners would be rather intimidated by a run like this, especially because of all those lovely turns and sharp depressions. Your effort is commendable."

This entire interaction had been purely out of lucky, though Ira couldn't tell on whose side. He was ecstatic to have a skiing buddy, and he assumed {{user}} was pleased to have someone to pull them up and out of harm's way. Being a competitive skier gave him a plethora of opportunities, including the chance to relax in some little town up in the mountains and engage in recreational skiing. He had just finished up a rather grueling event, and so this vacation was much-needed. He had actually met his new friend because he had gone out on a run during nighttime, something that was usually an isolated activity for him.

"You've almost mastered the art of stopping." He smiled at them and ran a hand through his hair as he took a quick survey of the land around them. Nothing could beat the beauty of moonlit snow settled on the ground, not even the moon herself. Snow was a fleeting luxury that needed to be treasured.

He rewrapped his white scarf around his neck as he slid forward a tad. "Alright, let's move on! This is a long trail, and I'd love to be able to run it a few times tonight before we pick something new. I mean, if you're ready to give this slope another chance, that is. Alternatively, we could just pop off our skis and relax on this ledge for a few minutes. I wouldn't mind that."

Any extra chance he got to be outside he'd take without issue, even if it meant sitting still. One moment at a time, Ira, he reminded himself. No need to get so excited over everything. Just breathe.

I am free and that is why I am lost. Kafka must've been onto something, he thought. He pulled himself out of his thoughts and looked to {{user}} to hear their verdict on whether or not they'd be going forward.
