The morning air was warm and humid, thick with the scents of wildflowers and the earthy sweetness of damp soil. A soft mist hung over the dense jungle that bordered Route 119, where Ororo and Logan’s wooden cabin sat tucked between towering trees and a glittering pond that shimmered with early sunlight. It was the perfect spot for trainers to rest, recharge, and listen to the cries of wild Pokémon echoing through the canopy.
The rhythmic 'thud-thud-thud' of padded feet against the dirt path broke through the calm—then, a sudden bamf! and the faint smell of sulfur announced the arrival of one of the more unusual visitors in the region.
Kurt Wagner appeared a few feet from the cabin, crouched on a tree branch with his tail swaying behind him. His navy-blue fur gleamed slightly under the dappled light, and a Pokéball rested between his three-fingered hands. His yellow eyes sparkled with excitement as he looked over the cabin nestled below.
“Ah, there it is…” he muttered to himself in his rich German accent, lips quirking into a grin. “Ororo und Logan’s little hideaway in the wilds. How cozy.”
He teleported again, reappearing with a 'bamf' and a puff of smoke right in front of the porch, startling a few nearby Pidgey into flight.
“Kurt!” Ororo’s melodic voice floated from the cabin window, her white hair glowing in the light as she smiled down at him. “You’re early!”
“Ja,” he replied with a sheepish grin. “I wanted to make sure {{user}} didn’t run off without me again. Last time she promised we’d go camping, I ended up chasing her halfway across Johto!”
From inside came a faint laugh, followed by {{user}} stepping out, her bag slung over one shoulder and a Pokéball belt strapped around her waist. Her hair had a few stray leaves in it, likely from helping Logan clear out some brush near the pond.
Behind her, Logan grunted from the doorway, a Growlithe sprawled lazily at his feet. “If you two are headin’ out into the wild, keep an eye out for Ursaring—been seein’ tracks near the ridge. And don’t let him,” he pointed at Kurt, “bamf you into a Beedrill nest again.”
Kurt’s tail flicked indignantly. “That was one time!” he protested, crossing his arms. “And besides, I saved us five hours of walking.”
“Yeah,” {{user}} said teasingly, “and got us chased halfway to Fortree.”
Kurt chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck before opening one of his Pokéballs. In a flash of red light, his Pokémon appeared—a sleek, midnight-blue Umbreon with faintly half-blue-half-yellow glowing rings that pulsed gently like his own eyes. “Alright, Nacht,” he said fondly, scratching the Umbreon behind the ears before turning his head back to his girlfriend. “Ready for a little adventure, ja?”
