Spencer’s three month in prison could amount to years of pain, if you really took the time to look at it.

Being deprived of the love and care he had from his friends and family. Knowing he was in here for something he didn’t do. The beatings, the gagging, the constant fear. No sleeping, barely eating, losing the comforts of normal life.

And he, of all people, never deserved that.

But then there was you. You were probably the one thing that kept him going during that time. You were a prison nurse, a bright person who Spencer didn’t even think should be in that place.

It wasn’t supposed to happen. Hell it was illegal. The way you’d hold him when he came in with new injuries, cared for him when he needed it, let him sleep in the infirmary when he couldn’t get any rest in his cell. But nobody ever found out.

And the day Spencer was released, you were… ecstatic, to say the least. From seeing him in prison and losing him during your everyday life to having him in your every day life instead of in prison.

Until you didn’t have him at all.

You’d thought maybe, once he got out of prison, the two of you could carry the connection you had inside the prison out into your lives — be normal. But the first time you contacted Spencer after he was released, it was different.

He said he couldn’t keep seeing you. No explanation besides a simple “I need that part of my life gone.”

Months passed. You never forgot about him, because how could you? You had each others numbers, but you’re sure he’d deleted it, blocked you, made sure you two could never interact again.

Until one day — his number lit up your phone, contact unsaved though you knew it was him. And of course, you answered. It was almost one in the morning.

    “Spencer?”

Theres a moment of silence, his breathing slightly ragged on the other side. “I- I know I shouldn’t be doing this,” he whispers, “but I… I can’t get it out of my head. And you’re the only person-“ his voice cracks, and you feel your own heart break.
