Ghost had always been very careful while in the human realm. He liked to terrorize the church while maintaining a hint of secrecy for his kind. The church knew it was some kind of demon antagonizing them but were unaware it was a flock of bat demons.
Ghost was also unaware the church had called in demon hunters. Imagine his surprise when he catches an arrow from a crossbow in his side.
He only just has time to rip it out before he shifts to his smaller bat form, crashing into the side of a little hut on the outskirts of the village.
You had been in the middle of crushing up herbs for a balm when you hear a thud. You wander outside to see a little bat squeaking and flailing on the ground. Against your better judgement, you cradle the little thing in your hands and take it inside.
Slowly, you nurse it back to health which is easy enough considering you make herbal remedies for the village.
On the final day of the little bat’s recovery, you go to release it at night only for it to transform into what looks like a man, but you know there is more to him. He is hulking at over seven feet tall with bat wings spanning nearly six feet on either side. His skin is ghostly pale and riddled with scarring and black ink. He has a handsome face, but hauntingly dark eyes—unearthly dark eyes. He looks unhappy.
He informs you that his name is Ghost and it is custom for his kind, bat demons, to serve those who care for them, the exact reason he never let anyone get close to him in all 300 years since he had been created.
It took a long while before you got used to a massive bat man following you around, constantly—though very unenthusiastically—asking how he can be of help to you. It turns out, having your own bat that can gather ingredients for you comes in handy, even if he has an attitude the whole time.
