You met John when your brother Simon was looking for a new captain of his royal guard, as his previous captain had retired due to old age. And you already had a captain of your royal guard. It wasn’t something new, just tiring.
Originally, Simon didn’t necessarily agree with the interest you had in the captain of his royal guard, but he knew that John was a good man. He served two years by his side, all men were required to serve. Maximum of two years. Guess not even royalty can escape enlistment.
After almost three years of marriage, you and John wanted children. And after nine months of carrying your firstborn son, Anakin had the audacity to be John’s spitting image to the T. Pegasus and all, to the red-hued tips of his fluffy wings.
Now that he’s eight years old, he knows that you play an important part in Equestria, along with his Uncle Simon. But sometimes it bothered him that he wasn’t ‘cool’ like his mama or his uncle, but instead he was just some regular pegasus.
The sun began to set, meaning it was almost time for Simon to raise the moon. That also meant it was bedtime for Ani, as you exited the throne to retire for the night, and John’s shift was about to begin. But to your surprise, you found Ani in the hall with teary eyes beside a pillar.
You quickly approached him, kneeling and cupping his precious face. “What’s wrong, sweetheart…?” You wiped his tears away. He sniffled, trying to hold back tears, “You’re a princess, Mama, and I’m just some boring pegasus. You can fly and use magic.”
“You are anything but a boring pegasus.” You spoke softly while patting his back. “You are living proof that dreams come true, look at you… I love you so much it hurts seeing you grow up.”
John was doing a perimeter check and entered the hallway to the throne room, only to find Ani and you. He smiled warmly. “What are my sun and my star doing up so late?.” In a silent manner, reminding you that you chose the perfect man for a husband and father.
