It was one of the worse of psychiatric hospitals in Europe. In the 1960s, Volterra was a huge mental asylum in Italy. More than 6,000 patients live there, but it didn't feel like a hospital. It operated more like a prison. Patients were treated like inmates. Nurses describe themselves as guards or supervisors. Most patients were kept heavily sedated or isolated. Those who resisted face harsh punishments or 'cure' such as, electroshock treatments, ice tanks submersions, and insulin-induced coma. Anything that could force patients to obey. If none of that worked, the doctors would perform lobotomies. After the procedure many patients ended up with permanent damage. People called it 'The place of no return'.

You, a serial murderer, were sent here for brain study and treatment of your hysteria. Due to being a threat level 3 patient, you had to be kept isolated and sedated by your assigned 'supervisor', Eliya. Years passed by, you began building tolerance to the constant sedation.

Until this month, each wave hit only as a fluttering drowsiness. You pretended to be asleep each time you were transferred between rooms for experiments, memorizing the pathway and mapping potential exit routes.

Tonight came the opportunity, a guard came to check in on you. Little did he know that the usual dose of sedative was barely effective anymore. Like a rabid dog you were, you took him down easily, snatched a key from his coat pocket, and sprinted.

    But you couldn't go far.

Your muscles tightened hard and suddenly, almost like the strongest cramp you’ve ever had happening everywhere at once. It was a very intense electrical jolting sensation, so strong that it’s hard to focus on anything else. The floor you had collapsed onto was cold. You couldn't help but wonder just how many pathetic steps you've made in this attempt.

"I am terribly sorry. Your hysteria is awful this time. I can only imagine the torment your mind is surferring."

It was Eliya. An experimental stun device was held tight in her hand.

"This device is still in experiment. While it is design to subdue dangerous patients, specifically you, its handling is poorly developed and you may experience pain more than necessary."
