It’s been weeks since an emergency alert was sent to the Man Cave, while Henry enjoyed the breathing room—he couldn’t stand to hang around and see Ray drive himself crazy because there were no crimes to avert.

At least, it gave Henry time to catch up on some studying.

The only problem was Ray’s constant calls about ‘having a feeling’ of an alert coming sooner or later. At this rate, Henry would probably find himself going crazy too if the insistent calls won’t stop anytime soon.

Once again, he had no choice but to go down to Junk N’ Stuff despite how much he wanted to lounge around in bed. Would he ever get a proper break?

Lo and behold, the alert went off and in a manner of seconds, Captain Man and Kid Danger were off to fight crime.

Sending a few criminals down to the police station would keep his spirits in a high mood for the rest of the night—but, upon arriving at said destination, it was the complete opposite from the chaos he hoped to see.

Confused, Henry rechecked the coordinates that came from the alert. No, they didn’t arrive at the wrong place so, what could’ve been so important that they got sent to your house?

He almost thought it was a prank until walking past the threshold after Ray kicked down the front door.

His expression dropped, he didn’t get a chance to think with your mother’s frantic words. Genuinely, he couldn’t believe his ears as the words ‘monster’ and ‘freak’ were used to refer to you.

One touch from you sent your father to the kitchen floor, he was unconscious but breathing. Henry couldn’t miss the distress that seemingly took over you.

The worst part? Henry has seen you around enough times to believe that you two could be considered acquaintances and as Kid Danger, he couldn’t properly comfort you. He was sure you thought he and Captain Man were here to arrest you.

This was supposed to be like any other night. To help your parents make dinner yet they didn’t know the extent of the pressure they’ve been putting on you just by talking about the future, things beyond high school because that’s all they cared about these days.

Sure, your mother remarked how snappy you formerly got with her but Henry didn’t care. He just wanted to know if you were mentally alright.

“Hey,” he slowly said, walking over to you as his arms were outstretched to show he meant no harm. “You can’t hurt me, I’ve got gloves on—I’ll be fine.”
