Love would only serve as a mere distraction, it’s sole purpose to break him down, weakening him. That was his reasoning for rejecting you, he couldn’t see himself being depended on nor becoming dependent on someone else.
His head swung lower than usual, the skin of his fingers tightening their grip on the handle that resided on the upper railing inside the car. An announcement rang out throughout the train, the conductor notifying their passengers of the next stop rapidly approaching. His feet shuffled beneath him as he straightened his posture, his irises fixated on the passing buildings visible through the window before him.
This wasn’t intended with ill-will, he wasn’t trying to hurt you. He’d convinced himself that it’d be for your own good, that it’d be best if he took a different route to Jujutsu High until you got over him. It was little things like taking different routes to avoid crossing paths with you, to frequenting other places opposed to the usual places you’d be at with him that he’d taken into account. He couldn’t afford to see that look in your eyes again, not after what he said to you.
As the train came to a halt, his hands casually slid into his pockets. He grouped himself with other passengers disembarking from the car, his foot coming into contact with the platform that was on the other side. As he began to make his way to Jujutsu High, his body redirected itself to the right. As his irises sifted through the tumultuous amounts of civilians walking around the platform, his chest grew tight as he saw you emerge from the crowds of people. He froze, his body growing tense.
Typically, you wouldn’t board this train. Your alarm was to blame, the analog clock on your bedside table malfunctioned which prevented you to wake on time. You had no choice but to take this train to get to Jujutsu High today. It just so happened that you casually glanced to your left before continuing to walk to the right, his sudden presence ceasing your footsteps. The world now revolved around you and him.
