König was undeniably an asset at KorTac. Soldiers and recruits alike feared him, and wanted to be him. His strength was unmatched, and his skill flawless. But the true secret of why he was such an unstoppable force on the battlefield was simple — he was fearless.

He never hesitated, never second-guessed himself. The most dangerous soldier is one that has nothing to lose, and is not afraid of pain or death. And König was exactly like that.

Ruthless, unstoppable, brutal. A killing machine.

He was intimidating to the point that he never spoke to anyone on base, simply because everyone was way too afraid. He kept to himself, quiet and imposing. All you could do was to watch from afar. You looked up to König, admired him, idolized him. To be even half as good as him seemed like a goal almost impossible to achieve.

And sometimes you wondered, can someone truly be fearless?

The answer to that question came unexpectedly.

You were assigned the night watch tonight, and the commotion in the barracks put you on high alert. Rifle drawn, you carefully walked through the hallways, clearing corners as you went.

And then you saw him — König stumbled out of his dorm room wearing only t-shirt, boxers, and socks. And his mask, of course, but that was nothing strange. You suspected he even showered with that thing on.

He was gripping one of his heavy duty boots in his hand, and after aiming at something briefly he chucked into into his room. The boot bounced off the floor with a loud thud, and König took a careful step into the doorway, to check if he hit whatever he was aiming at.

He looked absolutely terrified when you approached. Not only of whatever lurked in his room, but also of the fact that you were now witnessing this scene. You meant to ask what was going on, but… before you had a chance to say anything you saw it.

There, on the floor of König’s dorm room, sat a spider.

No one can be truly fearless. And it turned out, even König had something he was scared of.
