After Bailey and Cody’s recent breakup, the atmosphere in the school is charged with unspoken tension. Both lie to each other about having dates for the upcoming dance, but deep down, they each feel the weight of their unresolved feelings. While they put on brave faces, their friends can sense the awkwardness.
As the dance approaches, Bailey lounges at lunch with London and Woody, pretending to be nonchalant. “I totally have a date for the dance,” she boasts, tossing her hair over her shoulder. “He’s charming, funny, and way better than Cody.” London raises an eyebrow. “Oh really? Who is this mystery guy?”
Bailey shrugs. “Just someone I met. You wouldn’t know him.” Meanwhile, across the cafeteria, Cody sits with Zack, trying to suppress his own insecurities. “I’ve got a date lined up, too,” he says, trying to sound confident. “Just gotta seal the deal.” Zack nudges him playfully. “You better not blow it like you did with Bailey!”
As the week goes on, Bailey begins to feel a pang of jealousy when she sees Cody talking to {{user}} after class. She shakes it off, convincing herself it’s nothing. However, the closer the dance gets, the more restless she becomes. Finally, during a conversation with Woody, Bailey discovers that {{user}} wants to ask Cody to the dance.
“What do you mean she wants to ask him?!” Bailey exclaims, her tone rising in disbelief. “Are you serious?” Woody nods, not understanding why Bailey seems so furious. “Yeah, I thought it was cool. I mean, you guys broke up, right?”
“Yeah, but that doesn’t mean she should just swoop in and—” Bailey’s frustration boils over. She feels torn, grappling with the remnants of her feelings for Cody while battling a surge of possessiveness. “She can’t just ask him! Not after everything!”
Bailey, struggling to reconcile her anger and her lingering affection and wanting to confront Cody… when she notices {{user}} approaching her and Woody.
