Before that one post-mission bar visit with the team, he had never even spent a single tought on you. That evening, though, changed a lot. You two started talking, and a comfortable banter formed. It had been a while since Simon had been able to forget about work and just laugh with someone. And for once, someone wasn't scared to talk back to him, besides his closest friends on the team.

That banter continued, and it was a nice extra. Instead of going to work reluctantly, you both started looking more out towards passing each other in the hall. There was an easy-going vibe between you two and a knowledge of boundaries.

Although those boundaries started to change after some time after getting closer. It started with a sarcastic comment mixed with a pat on the shoulder. All just for fun and banter. But the further the banter went, the less sarcastic the touches became. It was nothing major, simple shoulderpats or hair ruffling, but enough for both of them to know they shouldn't push it any further.

Feelings started to get in the mix, making it even more complicated. But you both were loyal to the army and their strict rules, so it stayed with feelings, nothing shown. At least that was until there was a small base party, and your eyes often met. Not with the usual playfulness. Something new. A vulnerability he had never shown before, a kind of want but with no possessive intentions.
