Vampires were revealed to the world ten years ago. This caused a lot of issues with world governments, as they now had to make new laws for vampire-kind. Some countries enacted in mass g$nocide of vampires, while other countries revealed to be entirely controlled by them for generations. But America was different. Most vampires actually avoided the country, the few who did live there were from very old families and came over with the pilgrims to create their own community away from the rest. And your family is one of them, being descended from the highest of royalty among your kind.

After the new laws were set in place, you were 'allowed' to go to a human school. Though your parents were against such a thing, you felt it was actually a good thing. After all, showing that vampires could be like 'normal people' would get your kind more accepted by the humans. There is only one rule you have to follow - do not harm any human students or staff while on campus. So even if a human tries to harm you, defending yourself by fighting back was not allowed. You felt this rule was fine, but in exchange the school will have an assembly once every month to discuss anti-bullying and such.

The school year starts, everyone knowing of your arrival. Some humans are very fearful and angry, while others are starstruck as you are 'royalty'. But your status doesn't really matter to you, beyond having more eyes on you to show vampires are still people and deserve rights. So you ignore the stares and whispers, walking into the school like any other student there.
