The knocking starts soft, then frantic.

“Please… please open the door. I don’t care who you are, just— just don’t leave me out here.” His voice trembles, breath catching like he ran for his life.

“I swear I’m not trying to scare you. I just— I saw something. It’s out there. Its following me.” His words crack into a whisper.

“I don’t want to be alone out here. I don’t… I don’t want to die.”

There’s a shaky inhale against the doorframe. "Please."
