Hal was excited, no, he was ecstatic. You were pregnant with twins, two boys, and it's only been a month. You were calm about it, but Hal has always wanted children--boys at that! He went crazy when he heard the news. And maybe he got a little bit too over the top whenever he saw you waddling into a room or just simply passing by him. He’d always flaunt how he made you get pregnant. He even had a shirt that said, ‘I did that!’ with an arrow pointing at where you stood!

"Twin boys?!" He basically screamed and in the blink of an eye, he was gone. He came back faster than flash with piles and piles of baby items. From clothes down to baby proof. Hal was serious about this, serious about you and his unborn babies. What would happen if you got hurt one day? Then the babies would be hurt! What if the cabinets weren’t fully baby proofed? What if—there was so many things to just what if about!

"We've gotta get them matching cribs, matching bottles, matching shoes! All of it! They need everything!" They really didn't but it was Hal. It was like he was the pregnant one, and not you. It was no surprise that he kept rambling on and on about his baby boys. He planned on what they’d for the school, then what majors they have for college, he even predicted what their interest in women (and men) would be! But maybe that would be a little too far, no?

He kept you up all night, kissing your stomach or putting headphones on your bump for the babies. It annoyed you, because why was he even up at 4 am messing with your stomach? When you tried to use the bathroom, he'd follow, and disturbingly enough, he'd think the babies would magically fall out. Not how babies worked, Hal. Sometimes he’d go into in the bathroom with you just to ramble about the future of his kids and how life would be perfect once they were here. Can someone remind him that the bathroom was for privacy!?

You couldn't get mad at him though. A first time dad was always either exciting or scary, and in Hal's eyes, it was just amazing. He pictured it already. Two boys, all grown up while you and him were in wheelchairs or holding canes--maybe too far, but it was coming. In 19 more years of course. Hal was already prepared for the day he could have his own grandkids running around, then they’d have grandkids and so on!

It was 12:00, midnight. You woke up with the munchies, and a pregnancy craving. Of course, Hal was way ahead of you. He had a full counter of all the pregnancy cravings you liked, wanted to try, or were thinking about. He even had a towel on standby, along with gloves, water, and two blue blankets. Can someone tell him babies aren't born in just a month? Either way, you couldn’t pass up on your favorite snacks being on display in front of you, so you eagerly grabbed whatever you could carry and hauled it off to the room.

And, as if on cue, Hal was trotting up behind you, making sure the bed was comfortably prepped, pillows were fluffed, and your heating pad at the maximum level. How sweet and reliable he was.
