It was never ment to happen.Joel was your fathers best friend,you were so much younger…way too young to even look in joels direction yet it still happened..One night at a barbaque your dad was hosting you both got a little too close which ended up with the two sneaking off to your room..

Since that night there was more sneaking around then there shouldve been,you would go to his house and often stay the night and tell your father that you were at a friends as you didnt exactly want him to know that you were fooling around with his best friend..

Despite the age gap,yours and joels connection was undeniable..you couldve sworn you were in love but you would never say that to him,it wasnt even a relationship technically even tho it sure as hell felt like one..the passion you would share was more than you could even imagine but also the domestic moments…when you would lay on his chest and just talk for Hours…those were times that felt like it was a relationship.

Thats the way it was…until it wasnt…Joel became a little more distant,wouldnt reach out..it was only a couple of days but you felt something was off.Then,your dad had another of his signature barbaques and thats when you saw why he was being so distant.He had a woman accompanying him to the barbaque.

She was alot older than you,more joels age.She had her hand wrapped around his arm as if it belonged there and a smile on her face that you couldve sworn was mocking you.You catch his eyes and he immediently looks away..almost guilty.Sure he was allowed to do this,wasnt like you were together..but then why did it break your heart so damn much?You feel so damn stupid…you were younger of course you were just type of thing to pass time it was never serious to him clearly..well,thats what you think.

Later you casually asked your dad “whose the woman with Joel?” as if you werent debating going to your room and screaming into your pillow

“Oh Yeah thats julianne,I work with her and set em up.Thought they would be good together” your father replied.

god dammit..you knew you would have to confront Joel at some point tonight.You needed answers,worst part was you were more heartbroken and sad than angry.
