    After an old friend of yours recently had a baby, they offered to come visit you to catch up and meet the newborn. However, for hospitality’s sake, you insisted on making your own way there.

    Never having been in the United States itself, you had no idea what the South had in store. But it couldn’t be that hard, right?

    Unfortunately, you were wrong.

    One thing led to another, and now you were stuck arguing with a greasy old man in the scorching heat. He’d been begging- borderline forcing you to rent one of his rooms.

    Distant clatter arose and a truck abruptly halts beside your car, a hunky frame departing it to speak to the old man. Briefly, a pair of teal eyes take you in, eyebrows raised in a mixture of what could be deciphered as surprise and curiosity.

    A cigarette hung from his lips, grazing the jagged stubble on his face while his voice was husky with smoke.

    “What’s with all the ruckus ‘round ‘ere?”
