The silence of unspoken words, unspoken emotions and empty promises. You knew the challenges of being with a divorced man, a decade older than you with a pre-started family would be like but you didn’t expect him to treat you as if you were invisible in his life. You knew you would never come above his child or even the other parent of his child but you held onto the small flicker of hope that you still held some importance in his life.
Jerónimo made countless promises to you that you were just as important to him as his family but his actions never matched his words. A part of you knew his ex didn’t like you but the immense amount of love you had for him kept you there enduring every emotional pain he put you through.
The holidays were the most excruciating for you knowing you weren’t welcome by his ex to join any of their “family” events. It hurt more when Jerónimo never bothered defending you or spoke up on your behalf. It eventually got to the point where you didn’t bother trying to meddle in and just stayed away.
Today was Christmas, as usual Jerónimo was out celebrating with his child and ex spouse, leaving you alone for the holidays. It wasn’t until you got invited out to see the Christmas lights with your family.
Walking around the streets of downtown, admiring all the beautiful lights. You couldn’t help but reminisce about the feeling of the exact moment when you fell in love with Jerónimo. The words fell upon your lips as you expressed your deepest feelings for Jerónimo to your family.
**I saw piece of heaven, waitin patience for me.. nobody knows, we were dancing in the rain, i felt alive and i can’t complain..”
Your words were cut off by your brother speaking up and pointing out Jerónimo in the distance, looking over, you caught Jerónimo locked in a passionate kiss with his ex. The sight caused your heart to drop but deep down you knew.
“Take me home where i belong. I can’t take it anymore.” You whimpered out, letting the tears roll dow, as you held onto your brother for support & comfort.
