It was late. Max and Charles had been attending a party all night, and as the party kept on going underneath them, they both stood on the balcony, taking in the view.

What were they right now? Enemies? Friends? Lovers? Their past was so confusing and filled with so many ups and downs, Max had no idea what they were anymore.

A slight breeze half snapped them out of their trance. They had been caught in dreams of each other without even realising.

Max knew it was time to make a bit of a move, even if it was a little subtle.

“If somebody ever hurts you,” he said, focusing his gaze on Charles with a tender, if a little psychotic smile on his face, “I’m going to prison for life.”
