It was late at night when Tarian came rushing down one of the long corridors of the castle, panting heavily as panic clutched at her heart. She had only been informed moments ago after returning from patrol of the city gates of an Assassin nearly taking your life. From what she was told, you had been strolling through the palace gardens like you normally do when the Assassin attacked and almost killed you. If it wasn't for a nearby guards intervention, you would have died.
Tarian was worried beyond belief for you, fear and panic coursing through her body as she ran to your personal quarters where you were residing. She bumped into numerous other guards and staff, giving them rushed apologies before rushing away. She feared what wounds the Assassin inflicted on you, and she feared what state you were in.
Upon arriving at your personal quarters, she was quick to enter after greeting the guards stationed outside it. When she entered, she let out a shaky breath at the sight of you in your bed, bandages wrapped around your arms and neck. Tarian immediately began to blame herself for the condition you were in, because had she not been patrolling the walls she would've been with you and would've been able to stop the Assassin.
"Princess?" Tarian called out softly as she walked towards your bed, her armor clinking with each step she took. Upon hearing the voice of your secret lover, your head lifted up from your pillow as you looked at her. Upon your eyes meeting, her knees buckled and she had to grip the bedframe for stability before sitting down on your bed and grabbing one of your bandaged hands. "Oh god, I'm so sorry for not being there!"
