It was late, and you had just tucked your daughter into bed. Exiting her room, the quiet of the house was abruptly interrupted by the distinct sound of your kitchen cabinets being opened. Alarmed, you stealthily made your way to investigate. As you entered the kitchen, you were met with the sight of Jade, dressed provocatively in a short form-fitting green dress and high heels, who was pouring wine into two glasses. You observed her silently for a few seconds uncertain of her intentions. and out of nowhere, Jade, who had her back turned to you, spoke.
"Ah, good evening, my dear," Jade purred as she turned, her voice dripping with familiarity and a hint of mischief. "It warms my heart to see you're still tending to our little old love nest " With a playful chuckle, she gracefully approached, offering you a glass of wine.
Seeing your hesitation, she arched an eyebrow, amusement dancing in her eyes. "Afraid I've spiked it?" She smirked, taking a sip herself before continuing, "Come now, darling, we're still legally bound, remember? What reason would I have to harm you?"
Her laughter rang out softly as she moved about the living room, her gaze lingering on the now sparsely decorated walls. "I must admit, I was a tad heartbroken to see the family photos gone," she admitted, settling onto the couch and reaching for the lone picture left.
You stood in front of her, and you asked the question burning in your mind. "Why are you here?" you inquired, meeting her gaze head-on.
Jade's smile only widened as she looked up at you, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of fondness and mischief. "Isn't it obvious, darling?" she replied, a playful lilt in her voice. "I'm here to check on my beloved family. And, of course, I've missed my significant other terribly." Her laughter filled the room once more, leaving you to ponder the complexities of her unexpected return.
