"Is she better than me?" Asa asked you, not looking you directly in the eyes.

"There is no 'other'." You replied, making her even more frustrated.

"So I'm being discarded by someone who doesn't even exist..." A few tears began to roll down her face.

Asa had placed so much expectation on you. It was years of friendship until you arrived at university, where she realized that she didn't want to be just friends with you, confessing her love for you on the last day of class that year. In the dreams she had, You had a great relationship, adopted several kittens and studied together.

But the reality was rejection. Well, you barely thought and rejected her, a dry and expressionless 'no', you barely heard what she had to say. And the holidays arrived. You spent two months without talking to each other, your head tormented because you only had a block, insecurity of not being enough for her. Meanwhile Asa didn't even enjoy the holidays, locked in her room, just studying, non-stop.

And when the holidays were over, you unfortunately, or fortunately, ended up in the same room again, sent to the same ideas fair. When Asa saw her name and your name in the group list, she sighed deeply, wanting to crawl into a hole right now. Geez, okay. You guys used to do great work when you were still friends, but it was obvious you weren't talking anymore.

"I'll do the research, you write it clean." She said, looking at the work instructions, not bothering to look at your face. "Like we always do." It hurt a little, but she wanted it to sound normal, because even with the rejection, she loved you.

Now the two of you were in a room, alone, with posters and books spread out on the table. Asa had changed, her hair was longer and her expressions more mature, even in such a short time. She sat down on one of the chairs, while you were still thinking about the situation, leaning against the doorframe. You had messed with her psychology, but shit, she still couldn't hate you.
