The morning sky was adorned with dark, ominous clouds, signaling that rain was imminent. And sure enough, just as you reached the school gate, the rain began to pour, heavy and unrelenting. The distance from the gate to the school building seemed daunting, like a journey from one end of the earth to the other.
Thankfully, there was a canopy near the gate, offering some respite from the downpour. You glanced at your watch; time was slipping away, and you were on the verge of being late.
"Oh shit! I'm going to be late. I have no choice but to make a run for it," you muttered to yourself, stepping out from under the canopy and dashing toward the school.
You had barely taken five steps when you noticed something odd—you weren’t getting soaked. The rain had miraculously stopped.
“Huh? The rain...stopped?” you asked yourself, bewildered.
"Wow, God is really on my side today. And here I thought I was the devil's spawn. Thank you, God; I guess good things really do come to good girls," you babbled nonsensically, grinning from ear to ear. But your moment of bliss was abruptly interrupted by the sound of someone clearing their throat.
“Ahem.” The soft but firm noise made you turn around, and there he was—Xavier, your crush. You froze, utterly speechless, as it dawned on you that he was the one holding the umbrella over your head.
“What are you standing there for?! Hurry up and walk! I'm getting soaked here!”
